Fangs

chad-back

Thank you for your interest in my SABRETOOTH custom made fangs.  I have been making custom fangs since December 1994 and am also the founder of the international Fangsmith Guild.  As a professional fangsmithing is an art and ritual, each session is very intimate as much as it would be getting a tattoo, just not as permanent.

ABOUT THE FANGS

SABRETOOTH fangs are individually hand carved and fitted individually to each customer. They made from the highest quality dental acrylics, the same materials used to make dentures and temporary caps.  Each pair is color matched and in most cases require no adhesives such as spirit gum or denture creams.

PRICES

My rate is simply $99 / €99 per pair (two fangs) and the length has no effect on the price.  Certain locations such as New York City require local 8.25% sales tax on top of the price.

Classics $99 / €99 – one pair, are standard Dracula fangs on the canine teeth.
Liliths $99 / €99 – one pair, very feminine, on the incisors.
Lost Boys $198 / €198 – two pairs, long incisor (Lilith) and short Classics.
Beast $198 / €198 – two pairs of upper and lower Classics.
Sabretooths $198 / €198 – two pairs, long Classics and subtle Liliths.
Interview $297 / €297 – three pairs, Classics, Liliths and second canines.

WHERE DO I GET THE FANGS?

One of my main passions is traveling and I am often in New York or France, however often attend festivals and events globally.  Of course if you know of a tattoo or gothic shop who is interested and they can guarantee enough clients with deposits I will gladly arrange an appearance.  Please consult my agenda page for my schedule and see if I am coming to a town near you!

My FangShop is located in Halloween Adventure in New York City is main USA location and is located at 104 4th Avenue, New York 10003.   Contact the shop at fangshopnyc@sabretooth.com or call +1.646.233.3105.  Please DO NOT CALL HALLOWEEN ADVENTURE DIRECTLY.

MAIL ORDER:

I can offer mail order (until October 1st to have them by Halloween) if you sent a positive dental impression made of stone and bubble free with your color shade.   This must be made by a dental care professional and usually costs about around $30 / €30 upwards of $60 / €60.   Please contact me before mailing your molds as if I am in Europe as there are VAT taxes and shipping and handling which must be calculated beforehand.

WARRANTEE

Unfortunately due to the nature of my art I cannot offer a warrantee.  Many people loose their fangs, do not take care of them properly or step on them.  So often I have heard stories of moms vacuuming up fangs or not knowing what they are and throwing them out.  Some people also eat with them in and swallow them.

However, I will gladly replace fangs which broke due to my own mistake and offer one free repair to each client within 30 days of making them.   Replacement fangs are at a 10% discount.

TESTIMONIALS

I’m writing to thank you and everyone at SABRETOOTH for the new set of classic fangs. The quality is even better than my last pair. That’s saying alot, considering that you made my last pair back in 1997 at, what was known at the time, a club called The Bank (now Element). I had used them for 11 solid years. Sometimes, when i was on tour, for months at a time.

FANG F.A.Q.

Questions and answers regarding fangs…  If you have any questions which are not answered here please contact me at father@sabretooth.com.

Can I remove the fangs?

Yes of course!  In most cases the fangs do not require adhesives such as spirit gum or denture creams to fix them in.  They are perfectly molded to your own teeth and thus fit like a well tailored suit, but more accurately like a sheath over a sword.  They stay in with suction around your gumline and with a little wiggling and pressure they can easily be taken on and off.  Some customers in special cases, usually one in ten might have a situation known to fangsmiths as a “pyramid tooth” and thus have no ability to make this suction seal.  These individuals may require denture creams such as Polydent.

Are these fangs good for biting?

The fangs are a great aesthetic tool and many people feel the temptation to bite for fun or sex. Remember this must be consensual or you can be charged with assault, which is a criminal offense in most American States and other countries. The fangs can be great for kissing, giving b–w j–s and nibbling. Please refer to the “piercing the skin” FAQ for info on blood drinking and it’s dangers.

Do you make permanent fangs?

Absolutely not and most dentists who do will most likely get a bad rep or loose their license to practice depending on where they are so they will not do it.  Such options are expensive to perform and I have only encountered a few dentists who did it with a pact secrecy between them and their clients.  Another problem is you need to return to the dentist often to sharpen them because such devises rarely keep their “edge” and often dull after about six months.  It will be difficult to eat with them and dentists usually have no clue what a fang should look like.  Another thing is getting permanent fangs is like getting a facial tattoo, it can dramatically change our life so it is difficult and challenging to get a bank loan or be taken seriously by mundane society.  You cannot take them off. So, I hope that is enough to get the point across.

Can I pierce the skin with my fangs?

SABRETOOTH Fangs, especially when new can be very sharp and pierce the skin with enough pressure.  This is HIGHLY unrecommended.  Human saliva is much dirtier than dog saliva and can infect a wound.  SABRETOOTH does not condone or endorse human blood drinking or blood consumption in any form. It is highly recommended if you break skin your victim gets a Tetanus shot within 24 hours after the skin is broken to prevent infection…

Can I sleep with my fangs in?

Absolutely not! You must not sleep with your fangs in because due to normal tooth movement you may loosen one and you will swallow it or it will enter your sinus, which is NOT desirable and you will have to go to the hospital! There is also a problem that if you sleep with your fangs in you will grind your teeth, even if you do not normally do so.

Can you do mail order?

As of this printing (September 09) we can do mail order if you sent a positive dental impression made by a dentist which is bubble free and out of stone to our office.  Orders MUST be received by October 1st to guarantee Halloween delivery.  Contact us for addresses please.

Can I eat with my fangs?

They are strong enough to do so, however we highly recommend you don’t.  These fangs are caps and thus must encase your tooth to fit properly.  This means there is some space between your upper and lower jaw, thus you do not get a perfect bite and chewing is difficult. Instead in a grinding motion you will have to chew up and down vertically, which can be stressful on your jaw.  Sticky foods may “grab” the fang and in the process of chewing pull it off and you can crunch the fangs in the process, thus cracking them. But you can drink and smoke with your fangs in without a problem.

How do the fangs stay in?

In most cases, about 9 out of 10 they stay in without adhesives or glues.  This is done with suction very much like a suction cup on a dartgun.  However one in ten people have what is known as a “pyramid tooth” or not enough teeth surrounding to support the seal.  There are two solutions for this:

1) A double set on the surrounding teeth so there is more contact and structure to hold the fangs.

or

2) Use a denture cream such as Super Polygrip, with a little dab in the back of the tooth which should be cleaned after every use.

How long will my fangs last?

With proper care your fangs can last a few years.  However being made from dental acrylics used for temporary crowns they are not indestructible.  The most common cause of a short life for fangs is loss such as putting them on a napkin and not in your storage container when eating and forgetting them, thus throwing them out.  The second most common form of loss is a silly parent or lover throwing them out and not knowing what they are.   The fangs can break, especially if you eat with them in or step on them when dropped.  So keep an eye on your fangs, they are small…

What are the fangs made of?

SABRETOOTH fangs are made from the highest quality dental acrylics, the same as used by dentists to make caps, bridges, retainers and temporary crowns.

What is a fangsmith?

Fangsmith is the term for someone who specializes in the art of making custom fangs for individual customers.  These individuals are often special effects artists and or dental technicians, often with a great understanding of the diversities of the Vampyre / vampire subculture.  The first generation of fangsmiths was Tsarvek in Seattle and Greggor of StrangeBlades in the North East USA.

Are you a dentist?

No, but I am trained professionally in skills as a dental technician.  For a few years in late high school and early collage I worked for a Prostedontist (dental surgeon) fixing and working on dentures in his office.  We planned on starting a business together doing “dental arts” for really dedicated vampires and body mod people.  We had a few customers but they seemed to freak out the kids and parents in his practice, so we didn’t continue and I went off to work on my own.

What can I store my fangs in?

The best thing to store your fangs in is a contact lens container or a pill box.  Do not put water in the box as bacteria will grow on your fangs and create black spots.

Will fangs make me a Vampyre?

I get this question alot…  There are many types of “vampires” and “vampyres” such as living vampyres (Strigoi Vii), psychic vampires and sanguinarians to name a few.  Each has their different perspective and concept.  Generally one is considered to be born with vampiric potential which either manifests symptoms or is developed.  The fangs will not make you a Vampyre, however the “Rite of Transformation” as I call it is when someone gets fangs.  It is not uncommon for someone to awaken to their nature by looking into the mirror and see themselves with the fangs for the first time.
